    APERC Statement
New Paper Demonstrates NP/NPE Inherently Biodegradable
    Including Ring Cleavage
    April 24, 2006

A paper recently published by Naylor et al. (2006) provides an overview of the pathway and degradation rates of the biodegradation of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE) and its biodegradation intermediates, the studies discussed in this paper demonstrate that the phenolic ring of NPE is opened, metabolized and mineralized in the aquatic environment. To obtain reprints of the manuscript please contact APERC at info@aperc.org.
