APERC Statement
European Chemicals Bureau Removes NP From List of Possible PBTs
April 19, 2005
The European Chemicals Bureau, Institute for Health and Consumer Protection, Joint Research Centre released a draft status report in February 2005 stating that nonylphenol (NP) was dropped from the European Commission list of Persistent Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) substances. NP is inherently and ultimately biodegradable and does not meet international criteria for PBT chemicals.
