APE Research Council To Present Latest Findings At International Cleaning Products Conference

Research Council to brief media on latest developments

The APE Research Council will present the latest environmental and health research on alkylphenols (APs) and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) in poster presentations at the American Oil Chemists Society 4th World Conference on Detergents in Montreux, Switzerland from October 4-8. The APE Research Council also will host an exhibit and brief members of the media on recent regulatory and scientific developments related to APs and APEs.

The APE Research Council will present the following posters:

  • "An Environmental Risk Assessment of the Biodegradation Intermediates of Nonylphenol Ethoxylates," by Charles Staples, Assessment Technologies, Inc.;
  • "Biodegradability of Nonylphenol Ethoxylates," by Jim Bob Williams, Union Carbide Corporation;
  • "Nonylphenol Ethoxylates in the Environment," by Carter Naylor, Huntsman Corporation; and
  • "Human Health Safety Evaluations for Alkylphenols and Alkylphenol Ethoxylates," by John Van Miller, Union Carbide Corporation.

Conference attendees can obtain copies of the posters and meet with APE Research Council representatives at exhibit booth #73 at the Conference. Extensive information about APEs will be available, including the premier edition of The Alkylphenols and Alkylphenol Ethoxylates Review.

The APE Research Council also will host a briefing on Wednesday, October 7 at 10:30 a.m. for members of the media and consulting firms to review regulatory developments and the latest environmental and health information on APs and APEs.

The Washington, DC-based APE Research Council is composed of manufacturers, processors, users and suppliers of APs and APEs whose purpose is to promote a scientifically sound understanding of the health and environmental safety of APs and APEs.
