NOTICE TO DISTRIBUTORS AND USERS OF PRODUCTS CONTAINING APES
This notice is to inform distributors and users of products containing alkylphenol (AP) and alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) of the availability of the Alkylphenols & Ethoxylates (APE) Research Council as a resource:
- to answer health and safety questions pertaining to AP/APE products;
- to address and clarify misinformation about AP/APEs; and,
- to otherwise support the safe use of AP/APE products.
The APE Research Council is a trade organization of manufacturers, distributors and users of AP/APEs. Its objectives include:
- sponsoring research to advance understanding about AP/APEs;
- monitoring and responding to government initiatives involving AP/APEs; and,
- communicating important scientific or policy information to key stakeholders.
The APE Research Council has a web site - www.aperc.org - which provides up-to-date information on APE Research Council activities, the latest scientific research findings related to AP/APEs and discussions on specific issues of interest and importance to regulators, the public and APE Research Council members and their customers.
One of the APE Research Council's activities is to investigate and address initiatives aimed at eliminating AP/APE use. Very often these efforts are based on erroneous information about the effects of AP/APEs on health and the environment. The APE Research Council can offer assistance in separating the facts about AP/APEs from unfounded concerns about potential risks from using these chemicals.
If you have questions concerning safe marketing and use of AP/APE products, or if you encounter or learn of any initiatives to discourage the use of AP/APE-containing products, please contact the APE Research Council.
