ABOUT THE APE RESEARCH COUNCIL
Mission
The mission of the APE Research Council, which is composed of manufacturers, processors, users and raw material suppliers of alkylphenols (AP) and alkylphenol derivatives (e,g., alkylphenol ethoxylates (APE)), is to promote the safe use of AP and AP derivatives through research, product stewardship and outreach efforts, within the framework of responsible chemical management:
- Advocate science-based public policy;
- Communicate findings of research, regulatory issues to industry, academia, government and media; and,
- Sponsor research to advance scientific understanding of health and environmental safety of alkylphenol products.
Research
The APE Research Council sponsors research directed at understanding the health and environmental profile of AP and AP derivatives (e.g., APE). The Council and its members have sponsored extensive research in areas of analytical methods development, aquatic toxicity, environmental occurrence, fate and degradation, toxicology and pharmacokinetics. The Council makes all research available to the public.
